| MATRAC offers a number of educational opportunities throughout the region for physicians, nurses, EMS, and other healthcare providers.
Trauma Educational Opportunities for 2012:
Please take a look at the links below for upcoming educational opportunities. There will be 3 Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) and 3 Rural Trauma Team Development Courses (RTTDC) held at various location in our region. Cost of these courses are greatly reduced due to generous grants through the Mission Hospital Foundation and the NC Office of Rural Health & Community Care.

Trauma Grand Rounds (TGR) are offered on the 1st Friday of the month from 12noon-1pm at Mission Hospital and teleconferencing is available throughout the region. Excellent information about recent trauma cases is discussed, CEU/CME is provided. Mission employees may register through Web In-Service. Others may sign in on the day of the class. TGR’s are also available online through the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC).
Trauma Nursing Core Courses (TNCC) are offered periodically at various hospitals in the region. The purpose of TNCC is to present core-level knowledge, refine skills, and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing. This course was developed by the Emergency Nurses Association and is intended for registered nurses with at least one year of practical experience.

Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) was developed by the American College of Surgeons and offers a team approach to trauma care. This course is intended for physicians, nurses, EMS, respiratory therapists, and other personnel involved in the care of the injured patient.
Trauma Case Reviews and In-services are available by request to EMS or hospital personnel. We can provide detailed review of specific trauma cases or general trauma topics for educational purposes.
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) is offered periodically in Asheville at AB Technical Community College. This course is intended for physicians, however nurses and other medical personnel may audit the course.
